The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is investigating the sinking of the Landing Craft Tank (LCT) San Juan Bautista between Romblon and Sibuyan Island.
Six Filipino crew members were rescued in good condition by a fishing vessel after the ship sank while en route to drydocking in Navotas City.
The vessel was carrying 2,500 liters of marine diesel oil but no cargo at the time of the incident.
Initial assessments indicate a low risk of environmental damage due to the depth of the wreck and the light nature of the fuel.
The PCG, along with local officials and government agencies, continues to monitor the area for oil spills and has urged coastal communities to report any signs of pollution or debris.
