Malacañang on Monday responded to Vice President Sara Duterte’s remark calling her upcoming impeachment trial a “bloodbath,” saying it hopes the statement was merely figurative.
Presidential Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro acknowledged the comment’s intensity but emphasized that the legal process must be allowed to proceed.
Duterte has declared her legal team is in full preparation mode and will exhaust all legal remedies.
The Senate trial, set to begin on July 30, stems from Duterte’s alleged misuse of confidential funds and supposed involvement in a plot to assassinate top government officials.
Castro also reiterated that President Marcos will remain neutral and not interfere with the impeachment proceedings.
