The government has spent nearly PHP 500 million on Vice President Sara Duterte’s 433 security details over the past two years, according to Presidential Adviser on Poverty Alleviation Larry Gadon.
Gadon criticized this expenditure, arguing that the funds could be better used for poverty alleviation, such as feeding the hungry.
He highlighted that Duterte’s security costs amount to over PHP 20 million monthly, significantly higher than the previous administration’s spending.
Gadon also questioned the necessity of such a large security detail and the Office of the Vice President’s request for an increased 2025 budget.
In response, the Presidential Security Command (PSC) assured their commitment to protecting Duterte, despite recent adjustments to her security detail.
