The Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) has honored the medalists of the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games by awarding a total of P10.6 million during its general assembly at the East Ocean Palace Restaurant in Parañaque City.
The committee distributed the cash windfall to 18 medalists, with some recipients personally receiving their checks at the event.
Notable recipients included jiu-jitsu gold medalist Annie Ramirez, who received P1 million, and boxing silver medalist Eumir Marcial, who was awarded P500,000. Additionally, EJ Obiena’s check was received by Nikko Huelgas, and Meggie Ochoa’s check was collected by other jiu-jitsu athletes, both totaling P1 million each.
The gold-winning men’s basketball team members each received P200,000, and wushu silver medalist Arnel Mandal was awarded P500,000. Tennis sensation Alex Eala collected a total of P450,000 for her bronzes in singles play and doubles with Francis Casey Alcantara (P150,000).
Other medalists, including Patrick King Perez, Patrick Coo, Sakura Alforte, Kaila Napolis, Erleen Ann Ando, and several wushu athletes, were also rewarded for their outstanding performances.
The POC’s recognition of these athletes highlights their remarkable achievements and contributions to Philippine sports.
