OTOM ENDS PARALYMPIC 50M BACKSTROKE RACE IN 6TH POSITION

Filipina para swimmer Angel Otom started strong in the women’s 50m backstroke – S5 final at the Paris Paralympics but finished sixth. 

She clocked a time of 44 seconds, falling 6.49 seconds behind gold medalist Lu Dong of China. 

China dominated the podium with Lu winning gold, He Shenggao taking silver with a time of 39.93 seconds, and Liu Yu securing bronze with 42.37 seconds. 

Otom was initially competitive but struggled towards the end of the race. She will compete again on Friday at 3:53 p.m. Manila time.
