The Palace said the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will probe an alleged assassination plot against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. following claims made in an affidavit by confessed Duterte bagman Ramil Madriaga.
The affidavit alleged a supposed agreement for Marcos to step down in 2025 in favor of Vice President Sara Duterte, with claims of destabilization or assassination plans if he refused.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said Marcos was surprised by the allegations and reiterated that he intends to complete his term.
She added that the NBI is mandated to investigate all death threats against the President and the public.
The case comes amid separate ongoing NBI investigations involving Vice President Duterte over similar allegations.
