NATIONAL SECURITY COUNCIL EXPLORES LEGAL OPTIONS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL CASE AGAINST CHINA IN WEST PHILIPPINE SEA

Jonathan Malaya, assistant director of the National Security Council, has stated that there is substantial evidence to file a case against China for environmental degradation in Panatag Shoal.

He highlighted consensus among government agencies regarding the necessity of legal action against China.

Malaya’s remarks come in response to documented evidence of harmful fishing activities by Chinese vessels in the area, including the destruction of coral reefs.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Coast Guard stands ready to respond to any directives from the National Task Force on the West Philippine Sea.

Lawmakers criticize China’s new maritime rules, emphasizing the need for diplomatic solutions and adherence to international law.
