Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 14) — The Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) named the winners of its 71st anniversary edition on Sunday, more than a week after it released the list of nominees.
Held at Fiesta Pavilion of the Manila Hotel, the award-giving body recognized cinema excellence in several categories.
‘Family Matters’ was one of the big winners, earning four awards: Best Picture, Best Editing, Best Actor (Noel Trinidad), and Best Supporting Actress (Nikki Valdez).
The dramedy film revolves around a family whose members argue over who would care for their father, who is suffering from a stroke.
Meanwhile, Nadine Lustre won her second Best Actress award in FAMAS for her role in ‘Greed,’ which tells the story of a couple who win the biggest jackpot in a lottery but things don’t go as planned.
