MMFF 2025 KICKS OFF WITH A NEW THEME, FIRST FOUR FILMS REVEALED

MMFF 2025 launched its 51st edition on Tuesday at Glorietta, Makati City, unveiling the first four official film entries under the theme “A New Era for Philippine Cinema.”

MMDA Chairman Romando Artes said the theme reflects efforts to embrace change and strengthen support for Filipino films as cultural expressions.

The initial lineup includes “Call Me Mother” (Vice Ganda, Nadine Lustre), “Reconnect” (Gerald Anderson, Carmina Villarroel, and others), “Manila’s Finest” (Piolo Pascual), and “Shake, Rattle & Roll: Evil Origins.”

Highlights included commemorative stamps for last year’s MMFF entries and appearances from local celebrities.

The remaining entries will be announced on September 30, with major events such as the Parade of Stars (Dec. 19), nationwide screening (Dec. 25), and Gabi ng Parangal (Dec. 27) already scheduled.
