The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will implement a zipper lane or counterflow traffic scheme along Commonwealth Avenue on July 28 to accommodate government officials and guests attending President Marcos Jr.’s 4th State of the Nation Address (SONA).
Motorists are advised to take alternate routes to avoid heavy traffic, with specific detours suggested for northbound, southbound, light vehicles, and trucks.
MMDA Chairperson Romando Artes announced a strict “no-day-off, no-absent” policy for 1,329 personnel deployed to manage traffic, respond to emergencies, and assist in crowd control during the event.
Traffic signs, barriers, and cones will be installed along alternate routes and affected roads, while a Mobile Command Center with CCTV monitoring will be stationed near Batasan.
The MMDA will also monitor SONA protests and conduct clearing operations to ensure smooth traffic flow around the Batasang Pambansa area.
