Meralco has signed a tripartite agreement with the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) and the Quezon City government to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy (RE) through streamlined net metering and distributed energy resource (DER) programs.
The initiative aims to empower households and businesses to generate their clean energy and sell excess power back to the grid, helping offset electricity costs.
As part of the deal, Meralco will set up a dedicated booth at Quezon City Hall to assist with net metering applications, while ERC and the city government will provide regulatory and logistical support.
Mayor Joy Belmonte emphasized the city’s commitment to a cleaner and more accessible energy future, with Quezon City already leading in net metering customers.
ERC Chair Monalisa Dimalanta hailed the program as a way for ordinary Filipinos to take part in shaping the country’s energy transition.
