Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto has expressed dismay over alleged misuse of public funds in Barangay Manggahan, including spending intended for persons with disabilities.
He said the barangay’s annual budget of about P130 million is larger than those of many municipalities and warned that some funds may have been used for personal expenses such as utility bills and housing rentals.
Sotto also cited questionable disbursement vouchers uncovered during a review, including a reported purchase of wheelchairs that may not have been properly delivered.
He challenged barangay officials to prove that the procured wheelchairs actually reached beneficiaries, saying persons with disabilities may have been deprived of assistance.
Despite acknowledging that some individuals involved are his acquaintances, Sotto said he would pursue charges if wrongdoing is established as part of his push for accountability.
