Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto thanked residents and emergency responders for their vigilance and coordination during Super Typhoon Uwan, which hit Luzon, including Metro Manila, on Nov. 9.
He noted that the city remains under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 2 and a yellow heavy rainfall warning from PAGASA.
Sotto praised 901 families for preemptively evacuating flood-prone areas near the Marikina River, emphasizing that early evacuation is safer than risking sudden storms.
He also expressed gratitude to emergency teams, highlighting that rescuers are not deployed during the peak of a typhoon to ensure their safety.
As of Nov. 10, 865 families, or 3,203 individuals, remain in Pasig’s 24 evacuation centers, and residents were urged to stay alert and monitor weather updates.
