MASS OATH-TAKING HELD FOR NEWLY PROMOTED PUBLIC SCHOOL EDUCATORS

Education Secretary Sonny Angara led the mass oath-taking of 1,559 newly promoted teachers and school heads in Caraga, highlighting the government’s push to ensure that no public school teacher retires at the entry-level rank of Teacher I.

The event forms part of the Expanded Career Progression (ECP) System, a policy under the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. aimed at accelerating promotions, reducing paperwork, and improving benefits for educators.

In a message, Marcos reaffirmed his commitment to uplift teachers’ welfare, emphasizing that their sacrifices deserve recognition and that the state must provide a clearer career path for public school educators.

Among those promoted were long-serving teachers, including 91 educators who finally received advancement near retirement age after years of stagnation in rank.

Teachers who received promotions shared emotional testimonies, saying the ECP system validated their years of service and dedication despite challenges in meeting earlier requirements.

Officials said the reform allows teachers to advance through teaching or administrative tracks without waiting for vacant positions, marking a shift toward a more merit-based and inclusive education system.
