The local government of Marikina City has strengthened security measures in public and private schools following recent violent incidents involving minor students.
Mayor Marjorie Ann Teodoro announced the deployment of additional police officers and Office of Public Safety and Security personnel to ensure the safety of students and teachers.
The city government will also provide schools with metal detectors to screen students and visitors entering school premises.
Seventy newly hired OPSS personnel have been assigned to public schools, while coordination is underway with private schools for the deployment of roving police officers.
Teodoro said the enhanced measures aim to give parents peace of mind and ensure schools remain safe spaces for learners and educators.
