MariBank Philippines Inc. has secured a digital banking license from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), upgrading from its previous rural banking license.
The approval makes MariBank the seventh BSP-licensed digital bank in the country, leaving only three digital banking licenses available.
The bank officially began digital banking operations on July 18, following regulatory approvals from the BSP and the Securities and Exchange Commission.
MariBank said the transition strengthens its commitment to providing simple, reliable, and digital-first banking services, while the BSP welcomed the move as a boost to innovation and competition.
The bank assured customers that no action is required following the reclassification and that eligible deposits remain insured by the Philippine Deposit Insurance Corp. (PDIC).
