President Marcos is set to sign the 2026 national budget on Monday, Jan. 5, following a detailed review over the holidays.
Presidential Communications Officer Dave Gomez confirmed the signing, noting that the President had mobilized a team to review all provisions and changes in the budget.
The 2026 General Appropriations Bill, totaling a historic P6.793 trillion, was ratified by the House of Representatives on Dec. 29.
Marcos spent the holiday period at Malacañang working on the budget and welcoming the New Year with his family.
The signing comes nearly a week later than last year’s budget approval, which occurred on Dec. 30, 2024.
