President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. called for measures to strengthen women’s economic participation and address barriers to financial and digital services during the 4th ASEAN Women Leaders’ Summit in Mandaluyong City.
Marcos highlighted the role of women-led and women-managed micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Southeast Asia’s economies.
He emphasized the need to expand women’s access to capital, digital financial services, and regional markets.
The President also called for greater investment in care infrastructure and a fairer distribution of unpaid care responsibilities, which often limit women’s participation in the workforce.
The summit brought together regional leaders and stakeholders to advance women’s leadership, gender equality, and inclusive economic growth.
