President Marcos cleared the medical bills of three patients totaling P3.5 million at Valenzuela Medical Center on his birthday, September 13.
The patients included a 75-year-old woman with acute respiratory failure, a man with sepsis, and a newborn, all with large hospital bills.
This was part of the government’s zero-balance billing policy, or Bayad na Bill Mo program, which ensures no out-of-pocket expenses for patients in basic hospital accommodations.
The policy was launched after Marcos declared zero-balance billing in all Department of Health hospitals during his fourth State of the Nation Address.
Marcos emphasized the program’s sustainability, assuring that public funds are meant to provide accessible and affordable healthcare for all Filipinos.
