President Ferdinand Marcos received a phone call from Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Friday, during which they discussed key ASEAN issues, including the US tariff policy and the ceasefire in Myanmar.
The call comes ahead of the 46th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur later this month, where both leaders expect these talks to continue.
Anwar noted that the temporary 90-day delay in the US tariffs offers ASEAN a chance to engage Washington in meaningful trade discussions, highlighting Malaysia’s strategic economic position.
In Myanmar, both leaders supported extending the current ceasefire to ensure unimpeded humanitarian aid across affected regions.
Anwar also expressed well wishes to Marcos and looked forward to meeting him in person at the summit.
