Manila Water reported system losses of 14.65 percent in August 2026 as it prepares for a possible strong El Niño that could last until 2027.
The company said reducing water losses helps increase supply without requiring additional water from existing sources.
Since 1997, Manila Water has reduced system losses from about 63 percent through leak repairs, pipe rehabilitation, and network monitoring.
It also repaired all 38 reported disruptive mainline pipe bursts in August within its 24-hour service commitment.
The company said it will continue improving its water network to ensure reliable supply for more than 7.9 million customers during prolonged dry weather.
