Malacañang has urged Vice President Sara Duterte to directly address the allegations against her instead of relying on “mere technicalities,” following her response to the Articles of Impeachment submitted to the Senate.
Palace spokesperson Usec. Claire Castro said Duterte did not issue an outright denial of the accusations and only reiterated arguments previously raised during House hearings, stressing that it would be better for her to explain the issues publicly.
Duterte, meanwhile, released a video statement calling the impeachment case “politically motivated” and linking it to broader political developments, including alleged attempts to divert attention from governance issues.
Her legal team has asked for the case’s dismissal, but said she is prepared to personally face the impeachment proceedings if required.
The final decision now rests with the senator-judges handling the impeachment trial.
