Malacañang has dismissed National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) Commissioner Reymar Mansilungan for misrepresenting his educational qualifications and approving bonuses for ineligible employees.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin’s decision, issued on April 23, found Mansilungan guilty of serious dishonesty, grave misconduct, and conduct prejudicial to the service.
Mansilungan falsely claimed to have a mass communication degree from the University of the Philippines and granted bonuses to two contract employees who were not eligible.
Complaints filed by Miguelito Garcia and Senior Citizens Party-list Rep. Rodolfo Ordanes led to an investigation into Mansilungan’s actions, which included misuse of NCSC funds.
Despite Mansilungan’s defense that the errors were unintentional, the Executive Secretary ruled that his actions violated government regulations and tarnished the integrity of the NCSC.
