The Makati City government has partnered with the University of Santo Tomas (UST) to offer full scholarships to 25 public elementary science teachers under the Teacher Effectiveness and Competence Honing (TEACH) Program.
Mayor Nancy Binay signed a ₱1.5-million memorandum of agreement with UST officials to fund the six-month Certificate in Science Teaching Program, which blends advanced science concepts with effective teaching methods.
The program, running from October 2025 to May 2026, aims to boost the quality of science education in Makati’s public schools through hybrid weekend classes.
Scholars must serve at least one year in the city’s school system after completing the course, while UST will assess teachers’ needs and review laboratory facilities.
Mayor Binay said the initiative underscores her belief that “education is the greatest equalizer,” reflecting Makati’s ongoing investment in teacher development and educational excellence.
