The 45-day local campaign period for the May elections officially began on March 28, with candidates across Metro Manila holding rallies, house-to-house campaigns, and online promotions.
In Caloocan, Mayor Along Malapitan launched his campaign with a rally, while mayoral candidate Antonio Trillanes IV focused on an online campaign.
Other local candidates, including Malabon Mayor Jeannie Sandoval, Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto, and San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora, held rallies and mass attendances as part of their campaign launches.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) reminded candidates to register their online platforms and adhere to guidelines for campaign materials, warning against illegal postings and urging eco-friendly options.
Amid heightened security and efforts to maintain peace, Comelec initiated a “Kontra-Bigay” campaign to combat vote buying and reminded candidates to follow electoral laws.
