As the Philippines observes National Clean-up Month this September, Senator Loren Legarda urged Filipinos to turn environmental laws into real community action.
She emphasized that laws like the Climate Change Act and the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act only bring change when embraced by the public.
Citing alarming data on plastic waste and pollution, Legarda highlighted the urgent need for stronger enforcement and innovative environmental planning.
She also filed bills to establish an Environmental Protection and Enforcement Bureau and to modernize environmental governance through strategic assessments.
Legarda called on everyone to commit daily to protecting the environment, stressing that legislation alone is not enough without public participation and sustained effort.
