Senator Loren Legarda highlighted the importance of the Philippine Studies Program in strengthening the country’s global connections and enhancing its international voice.
Speaking at a book launch about the program, she emphasized that diplomacy starts not just in embassies but in classrooms and through cultural exchange.
Established in partnership with SOAS London in 2017, the program now spans 24 universities worldwide, promoting research on Philippine heritage and contemporary issues.
Legarda described the initiative as a form of cultural diplomacy that builds understanding and bridges across nations.
She added that the program helps the Philippines assert its identity while contributing to global knowledge and cooperation.
