Negros Occidental 1st District Rep. Julio Ledesma IV has urged LGUs in his district to declare Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano as persona non grata, accusing him of trivializing his role as a legislator.
Ledesma appealed in a social media post directed at several local government units, calling Cayetano a “disgrace” to the Senate.
San Carlos City Mayor Renato Gustilo said he will consult legal counsel before responding, but noted he may support the move if there is a legal basis.
Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. said the issue has not yet been discussed among local chief executives, but criticized recent developments in the Senate as overly political.
He added that voters should choose leaders based on integrity, not popularity, amid tensions linked to the ongoing impeachment-related discussions.
