A lawmaker is pushing for a reduction in the proposed 2025 budget for the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-Elcac) due to concerns over its slow progress and unfinished projects, particularly under the Barangay Development Program (BDP).
Marikina 2nd District Rep. Stella Quimbo highlighted that out of 962 NTF-Elcac projects, many are still in the early stages, with zero completed BDP initiatives as of August 2024.
The BDP aims to deliver sustainable development to conflict-affected communities but has faced delays.
Kabataan party-list Rep. Raoul Manuel questioned the feasibility of completing these projects with the current timeline and budget utilization rates.
The concerns reflect broader scrutiny of the task force’s effectiveness and budget management.
