Filipina billiards star Rubilen Amit clinched the Kamui Las Vegas Women’s Open title after defeating China’s Han Yu in the final at the Rio All-Suite Hotel.
She earned $22,500 (P1.3 million) for her victory in the 64-player tournament and also won the Women’s Challenge of Champions, adding another $15,000 (P870,000) to her earnings.
Amit, a two-time World 10-ball champion and one-time World 9-ball titlist, secured her final win over Han after a crucial safety play in the fourth set.
Her championship run followed a loss to fellow Filipino Chezka Centeno in the winners’ qualification, after which she won five straight matches.
Centeno was eliminated in the quarterfinals, while Amit dominated opponents from Indonesia, Britain, Taiwan, and Austria on her way to the title.
