LAS PIÑAS CITY PROMOTES SUSTAINABILITY BY RECYCLING ELECTION MATERIALS

After the recent midterm elections, the Las Piñas local government collected campaign materials and recycled them into reusable items.

Mayor-elect April Aguilar directed the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) to remove campaign tarpaulins through the “Oplan Baklas” initiative.

The collected tarpaulins were upcycled into aprons and eco-bags to help reduce waste and landfill use.

This project aligns with City Ordinance No. 1036-11, which bans single-use plastic bags and polystyrene foam in the city.

Aguilar emphasized the city’s commitment to sustainability and reducing plastic waste through such eco-friendly programs.
