LAPID DEMANDS ANSWERS OVER NAMES LISTED IN CONFIDENTIAL FUND RECEIPTS

Senator-judge Lito Lapid questioned the appearance of his surname on acknowledgment receipts listing recipients of confidential funds from the Office of the Vice President (OVP).

During the impeachment trial, Lapid asked former OVP special disbursing officer Gina Acosta whether the names could have been aliases or referred to people who did not actually exist.

Acosta said she relied on documents submitted by Col. Raymund Dante Lachica, whom she identified as the security officer designated to implement the confidential activities.

Lapid also questioned Acosta about the ₱45 million from a second ₱125-million withdrawal, which she said was initially kept in the OVP vault before being released to Lachica after he submitted fund utilization documents.

The exchange added to growing questions in the trial over the identities of recipients and the documentation of the OVP’s confidential fund expenditures.
