Senator Panfilo Lacson has urged the Senate impeachment court to advise both the prosecution and defense panels to avoid publicly discussing the merits of the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte.
He said public comments on the case could influence opinion before the trial begins on July 6.
Lacson clarified that his appeal covers only the substance of the case, not updates on the trial process.
His statement came after the Senate concluded its five-day closed-door pretrial conference.
The defense is expected to submit its response to the prosecution’s pretrial requests.
