LA UNION SHOWCASES GLOBAL SURF TALENT, BOOSTS LOCAL ECONOMY

Australia’s Isla Huppatz and Dane Henry captured the women’s and men’s titles, respectively, at the 2025 World Surf League World Junior Surfing Championships held at Urbiztondo Beach, La Union. 

Huppatz defeated 2023 champion Sierra Kerr with technical precision, while Henry outmaneuvered Nadav Attar of Israel to reaffirm Australia’s dominance in the sport. 

Filipino surfers were praised for their courage and skill, inspiring the next generation and highlighting La Union as a hub for global surfing talent. 

The event also boosted the local economy, supporting surf schools, accommodations, and restaurants while sustaining livelihoods for local surfers. 

Following the championships, La Union continues to host international competitions, solidifying its reputation as the Surfing Capital of the North and promoting tourism in the province.
