Judy Ann Santos described being recognized by Michelin as “definitely a dream,” but said she is not rushing for the accolade, focusing instead on growing her Angrydobo restaurant community.
Since opening Angrydobo in 2019, she has specialized in Filipino classics, particularly adobo variants, while adding items like empanadas and holiday platters to cater to students and office workers.
As a chef and restaurateur, Santos expressed pride in fellow Filipino chefs included in the inaugural Michelin Guide Philippines, emphasizing that many deserving eateries, including carinderias, should also receive recognition.
She admitted that Michelin was not a priority when starting Angrydobo, as she wanted to create food without pressure, concentrating on building her restaurant’s loyal following.
For now, Santos remains committed to nurturing her Angrydobo outlets, seeing any Michelin recognition as a future bonus rather than a career goal.
