Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno has ordered the city’s legal office to request that Meta retrieve control of the Manila Public Information Office (MPIO) Facebook page from former employees.
The page has not yet been handed over to the current city administration, prompting Moreno to call it government property that should not be “held hostage” by previous staff.
Moreno wants Meta to transfer management authority of the page to the current Public Information Officer, E-jhay Talagtag.
He emphasized that the page is meant for public information, especially during crises, and not for political use.
Meanwhile, Moreno said he will use his personal Facebook page to post official city announcements until the issue is resolved.
