The shrine of St. Padre Pio in Santo Tomas, Batangas, has been officially declared an international shrine by the Holy See through the Dicastery for Evangelization.
Lipa Archbishop Gilbert Garcera announced the designation, which was issued on May 25, 2026, coinciding with the 139th birth anniversary of St. Padre Pio.
The recognition marks a major milestone for the Archdiocese of Lipa and elevates the shrine as a pilgrimage site of international significance.
The formal declaration will be held on September 23, the feast day of St. Padre Pio.
It is the second international shrine in the Philippines, after the Antipolo shrine, dedicated to Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage.
