Starting next year, passengers at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) will face higher fees under the new management of the New NAIA Infrastructure Corp. (NNIC), led by San Miguel Corp. (SMC).
The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) has approved a revised fee structure, with passenger service charges (PSC) increasing to P550 for international flights and P200 for domestic ones in the first year, and rising to P950 and P390 by October 2025.
The NNIC, which will manage NAIA for 15 years with a possible extension, could earn up to P11.49 billion annually from these fees alone.
Critics, including advocacy group AirportWatch.PH, argues that fee hikes are premature given SMC’s history of project delays, while Infrawatch PH emphasizes the need for immediate improvements in airport facilities and transportation access.
The revised Administrative Order also introduces new takeoff rates and fees for both international and domestic operations, with further increases scheduled every five years.
