Senator Imee Marcos traveled to The Hague to renew her request to visit detained former President Rodrigo Duterte at the International Criminal Court (ICC), after being previously denied entry.
Vice President Sara Duterte confirmed that Marcos submitted a formal request through Duterte’s legal team.
During a recent conversation, Duterte expressed belief in Marcos’s sincerity and acknowledged their shared view that the charges are political.
Marcos reiterated her opposition to Duterte’s arrest, citing her Senate bill against extraordinary rendition, and expressed support for calls to secure his interim release.
She also confirmed filing a complaint with the Office of the Ombudsman against those allegedly involved in Duterte’s detention.
