Actor Ian Veneracion said his upcoming series Drug War: A Conspiracy of Silence is not about political personalities but about telling a deeply human story rooted in Philippine history, particularly the country’s war on drugs from 2016 to 2019.
He plays a priest caught in the search for truth and justice, and shared that his preparation focused on personal reflection and lived experiences rather than external political viewpoints.
Veneracion emphasized that he approaches his role from a character-driven perspective, avoiding political bias and instead focusing on systems, storytelling, and human consequences.
He also said he hopes the series will encourage meaningful discussions rather than division among viewers.
The six-part drama, directed by Shugo Praico, is set for release in 2026 and features an ensemble cast including John Arcilla, Lotlot de Leon, and Romnick Sarmenta.
