HOUSE SUSPENDS CAVITE REP. FRANCISCO BARZAGA FOR SOCIAL MEDIA MISCONDUCT

The House of Representatives voted 249-5 to uphold the ethics committee’s recommendation to suspend Cavite Rep. Francisco Barzaga for 60 days without pay over “disorderly behavior” on social media.

Barzaga had posted lewd images and displays of wealth that the committee said tarnished the dignity and reputation of the House.

The panel also ordered him to remove 24 related social media posts within 24 hours, which he accepted without dispute.

Barzaga, a 27-year-old “nepo baby,” reiterated his intention to file an impeachment complaint against President Marcos, citing alleged betrayal of public trust.

He has also been charged with inciting sedition and rebellion in connection with previous protest violence.
