The Department of Health (DOH) warned that the number of HIV cases in the Philippines could reach 215,400 by the end of 2024 if current trends persist.
In November alone, over 2,500 new cases were recorded, underscoring the urgency of intensified testing and treatment programs.
The DOH highlighted the need for increased public awareness, access to antiretroviral therapy, and stigma reduction to combat the growing epidemic.
Key populations, including youth and men who have sex with men, remain the most affected, with many cases still undiagnosed.
Officials urged communities to actively participate in prevention initiatives and foster a supportive environment for those living with HIV.
