Grab Philippines has launched GrabTaxi Electric, the country’s first e-vehicle taxi service officially recognized by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board.
The service operates in several Metro Manila cities through a partnership with local operator EV Taxi Corp.
This move follows a 2024 study with BYD Philippines that confirmed the financial and operational viability of electric vehicles for ride-hailing.
Grab plans to expand its e-vehicle services to other urban centers like Cagayan de Oro and Davao, supported by in-app sustainability features.
Currently in trial mode, GrabTaxi Electric aims to promote sustainable urban transport while gathering feedback to improve the service before its full launch.
