The government has approved an additional P1,000 honorarium for over 758,000 teachers and poll workers who served during the May 12 midterm elections.
Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman announced that P758.46 million has been released to fund the increase, on top of a previously approved P2,000 allowance hike.
The compensation package includes honoraria, travel, communication, meal allowances, and service credits, as mandated by election laws.
The move fulfills President Marcos’ directive to honor the essential role of poll workers in safeguarding the democratic process.
All poll workers are expected to receive their full compensation, including the new adjustments, within 10 days after the election.
