Retired police colonel Royina Garma’s allegations of a rewards system in the Duterte administration’s drug war are just the “tip of the iceberg,” according to lawmakers.
Zambales Rep. Jefferson Khongkun and La Union Rep. Francisco Paolo Ortega highlighted that Garma’s insights offer a glimpse into the inner workings of the previous administration.
Khongkun noted that Garma’s insider perspective lends credibility to her statements, especially if supported by additional witnesses and evidence.
Ortega emphasized that Garma’s testimony reveals a deeper issue concerning extrajudicial killings (EJKs) tied to the drug war, which resulted in thousands of lost lives, including innocent children.
Both lawmakers, part of the House’s “Young Guns” bloc, pledged to investigate thoroughly to ensure accountability for those responsible.
