The Senate plans to invite Lyu Dong, known as the “godfather” of Philippine offshore gaming operations (POGOs), to provide crucial information about dismissed Bamban mayor Alice Guo and her alleged connections to POGOs and espionage.
Senator Sherwin Gatchalian expressed optimism that Lyu, recently arrested, will share insights regarding Guo Hua Ping, a Chinese national linked to these operations.
Gatchalian emphasized the importance of understanding Lyu’s relationship with Guo and identifying other individuals involved in the POGO network.
Described as a kingpin in the industry, Lyu’s testimony is considered vital for the Senate’s ongoing investigation into scamming and human trafficking associated with POGOs.
Lyu was apprehended in Biñan, Laguna, on October 10 and is believed to have established multiple POGO hubs across various regions since arriving in the country in 2016.
