The Quezon City government is intensifying its cancer prevention efforts in line with Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Women aged 50 and above can access free breast exams and mammograms at all 66 city health centers, available year-round.
This year, the Quezon City Health Department screened 56,393 women, with several referred for further testing and treatment at local hospitals.
Mayor Joy Belmonte emphasized the importance of early detection and announced that patients diagnosed with cancer would receive free treatment, including chemotherapy and surgery, through partnerships like AIA Hope for the Breast.
Additionally, livelihood assistance and PWD identification will be offered to support cancer patients, and a new ordinance mandates free lung cancer screening services for residents.
