LoveYourself welcomed the arrival of the first batch of 455,188 bottles of HIV medicines, saying it would help ensure uninterrupted treatment for thousands of Filipinos living with HIV while calling for a stronger procurement and distribution system.
The Department of Health said the shipment is part of the 1.2 million HIV commodities scheduled for delivery through September to prevent treatment disruptions.
The NGO also urged the government to prioritize treatment hubs with the highest patient loads and invest more in HIV prevention services such as PrEP, testing, and self-testing.
LoveYourself thanked the Office of the President and Health Secretary Jose “Brix” Pujalte Jr. for addressing concerns about the HIV medicine shortage.
The group expressed optimism about working with the new DOH leadership to strengthen the country’s HIV response further.
