The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed that several Filipinos were among the five passengers killed in a tourist bus crash near Pembroke, New York, on August 22.
The bus, carrying 54 passengers who had just visited Niagara Falls, lost control when the driver became distracted.
Authorities have ruled out mechanical failure, intoxication, or impairment as causes, and the driver is cooperating with investigators.
Several injured passengers were treated and discharged, with no life-threatening conditions reported.
The Philippine Consulate General in New York is closely monitoring the situation and stands ready to assist victims and their families.
