Filipino para swimmer Ernie Gawilan concluded his third Paralympic Games in Paris, finishing sixth in the men’s 400m freestyle S7 final with a time of 5:03.18.
Despite leading in the heats, Gawilan struggled in the final, coming in 24.48 seconds behind Italy’s Federico Bicelli, who won gold.
Ukraine’s Andrii Trusov and Argentina’s Inaki Basiloff secured silver and bronze, respectively.
Gawilan also competed in the 200m individual medley SM7 but did not advance to the final.
With Gawilan’s exit, the Philippine Paralympic delegation now has three remaining athletes.
